WW2 Relics U.S. Army from Northern Italy
At the end of 2025, I set out on a field exploration trip to northern Italy, to a location rich in wartime history.
This area is closely connected with the Wehrmacht, Italian partisans, and later with the United States Army, which remained here for about a year and a half after the end of the Second World War.
Historical sources and local accounts indicate that around 50 men were stationed here, mainly from the US Army Medical Department and the command unit of their regiment. During my prospection, I discovered numerous relics that tell the story of this period, and many more still lie hidden, waiting to be found.
Among the artifacts were glass Coca-Cola bottles dated 1943, 1944, and 1945, several vintage beer bottles in both white and brown glass, as well as buttons, equipment parts, and various military items. Each object carries a small piece of the past, a tangible connection to the lives of those who once served here.
One significant discovery was a set of US military dog tags. I am currently trying to trace the soldier's family to return this personal piece of history to its rightful place.
Following these discoveries, a small local museum is now being established in the area to preserve and present these artifacts to the public. I am grateful for every opportunity to help uncover and document fragments of history that shaped this region.
