SPIVEY CHARLES D – U.S. ARMY DOG TAG
I found this dog tag in Vietnam, in a place connected to a large American military presence during the war.
The Vietnam War is not that distant. In some areas, objects like this still appear, often far from where they originally belonged.
This tag carries a name. Spivey Charles D.
U.S. Army. Blood type O. Baptist.
These details make it personal. It is not just an object. It was part of someone's life.
Dog tags were worn by soldiers for identification. They were meant to stay with them at all times. Finding one outside of that context always makes you stop and think.
This is an original piece. It is not a replica or reproduction.
When I travel, I sometimes come across items like this and bring them back. Some I keep, and some I offer to others who understand their value.
