Metal Detecting with Deus II in Vietnam
Visiting local detectorists in Vietnam
I was invited to visit a local metal detector dealer about three hours east of Hanoi.
From there, we went out together to search in a nearby location. It was a great opportunity to meet local detectorists and see how they work in their own environment.
Detecting conditions: harder than expected
Even though it rained on the first day, the ground was extremely hard.
This made digging difficult and slowed everything down. The soil conditions were challenging, and every signal required effort.
We were detecting in tropical conditions, switching between rain and strong sun. It was physically demanding, but also very rewarding.
The equipment we used
During the search, we used:
XP Deus II
XP Extreme Hunter from XP Metal Detectors
Testing these machines in such conditions gave a very real understanding of how they perform outside controlled environments.

One of the most valuable parts of this experience was meeting local people who share the same interests.
We searched together in rain and sun, exchanged experiences, and explored a location that was new to me but familiar to them.
It showed how different environments require different approaches.
What I found
During this trip, I found several coins and old pottery, and I have many memories from this place.
Each find required patience because of the ground conditions, but that made the results even more satisfying.
