DINGE R – U.S. ARMY DOG TAG
I found this dog tag in Vietnam, in an area that once had a strong American military presence.
When you move through places like this, you realize how close the Vietnam War still feels. Objects like this continue to appear, often without any clear story attached to them.
This tag carries the name Dinge R.
U.S. Army. Service number 3892616. Blood type O. Lutheran.
The marking GRAL most likely relates to the name itself rather than being a standard military abbreviation. It appears to be part of how the name was recorded on the tag.
Dog tags were worn at all times and were essential for identification. They included personal, medical and religious information to help in any situation in the field.
This is an authentic piece. It is not a reproduction.
