BRANDT PAUL W – U.S. ARMY DOG TAG
I found this dog tag in Vietnam, in a place that once had a strong American military presence.
When you travel through these areas, you realize how recent the Vietnam War still is. Objects like this continue to surface, often without any clear story attached to them.
This tag carries the name Brandt Paul W.
U.S. Army. Service number 191388151. Blood type A positive. Catholic.
Each line on a dog tag had a clear purpose. Identification, medical information, and religious preference were all essential in the field.
These tags were worn at all times. Finding one outside of that context always makes you think about how it ended up there.
This is an authentic piece. It is not a reproduction.
When I travel, I sometimes come across items like this and bring them back. Some I keep, and some I offer to others who understand their meaning.
