Metal Detecting in Vietnam
Vietnam is a country I love, but detecting here takes patience. On the beaches where I have searched, I was left to detect without problems. The challenge was the rubbish. Alongside plastic, there is plenty of other waste, including metal rubbish that keeps your detector busy. You need patience to work through it. Away from the beaches, I would not search without local people who can help arrange access and explain what we are doing. Otherwise, residents may become concerned and call the police. With local detectorists, I have searched meadows and dry lakebeds, as well as jungle with hard ground, dense vegetation and many ammunition fragments. These are my personal experiences, and conditions can differ from place to place. Suspected ammunition should never be touched, moved or dug out. Leave it to trained professionals.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your detector, check the conditions for your exact destination. For inland searches, arrange access with trusted local people and check the area’s safety. If you encounter suspected ammunition, stop searching and notify the authorities.
