Metal Detecting in the Philippines

In the Philippines, treasure hunting and archaeological exploration are regulated activities, but they are not the same licensing category. The National Commission for Culture and the Arts publishes separate guidelines for treasure hunting and for archaeological exploration and excavation on land and underwater. Its treasure hunting framework covers hidden treasures on public or private land, while archaeological research follows a different permit system. Neither framework should be treated as a general permission for holiday beach detecting. I could not confirm a nationwide rule authorising every search for modern losses. Before travelling, ask the NCCA and the responsible local authority which rules apply to your exact plans.

Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
