Metal Detecting in Palestine
Palestine’s 2018 tangible cultural heritage law places archaeological surveying and excavation under the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which may license specialised local or international missions. The law explicitly states that owning land does not give the owner the right to excavate for heritage outside its requirements. It also regulates discoveries and the handling of cultural objects. I could not confirm a general recreational detecting permission for visitors. Before considering a search, establish which authorities and access rules apply to the precise location. A heritage licence, landowner consent and practical permission to enter an area are separate matters and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
