In Moldova, I would be particularly careful about searching anywhere with archaeological potential. Official Ministry of Culture guidance identifies unauthorised access with metal detectors and their use at archaeological sites or in areas with archaeological potential as an offence. The ministry also publishes the framework for authorised archaeological research. Permission from a landowner should therefore never be treated as permission to search for archaeological objects. I could not confirm a clear national procedure for visiting hobby detectorists searching only for modern losses.
