Metal Detecting in Iran

Iran is a country where the equipment itself requires attention before you even think about searching. In a published interview, the commander of the national cultural heritage protection unit explained that possessing and using metal detectors requires permission from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. Importing a detector also requires authorisation. This means that avoiding archaeological sites or searching only for modern objects should not be treated as an exemption from the equipment rules. Before bringing a detector into Iran, obtain written confirmation from the responsible ministry and customs authorities about whether your proposed import and use can be authorised.

Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
