Metal Detecting in Haiti
For Haiti, I could not verify a clear, current national procedure allowing tourists to go recreational metal detecting. The country has legislation protecting historic monuments and archaeological places, and the Bureau National d’Ethnologie is an official starting point for questions about archaeological research. That does not establish permission for hobby searching, even on a beach or with a property owner’s agreement. Before considering a detecting trip, request written clarification about your intended location, digging and the treatment of any finds. Until those questions are answered, I would not describe Haiti as a confirmed destination for recreational detecting.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
