Metal Detecting in Cyprus

In the Republic of Cyprus, you need a licence to possess a metal detector, and its use is permitted only in areas specifically designated under the legislation. Using it outside those areas is explicitly prohibited. A quiet beach or permission from a property owner does not replace these requirements. Before travelling, contact the Department of Antiquities about the licence, your detector and the current maps of permitted areas. These sources concern the Republic of Cyprus and should not be assumed to establish the rules for every jurisdiction on the island.
