Metal Detecting in Canada
Canada needs a local check because metal detecting rules vary between provinces, municipalities and individual parks. Nova Scotia, for example, allows scanning without ground disturbance in some places with landowner permission, but searching for historical objects requires a Heritage Research Permit. National parks can have explicit detector bans or permit requirements, and digging or removing historical objects is restricted. Before planning a beach or park search, check with the authority managing that exact location. Public access does not automatically mean permission to detect or recover a target.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
