Metal Detecting in Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso’s 2023 cultural heritage law requires prior authorisation for excavation or test digging intended to find objects of historical or archaeological interest. Archaeological excavation authorisation is reserved for institutions represented by qualified archaeologists, rather than ordinary visiting hobbyists. I could not verify a general national rule specifically permitting recreational detector use for modern lost items. Before planning any search, ask the ministry responsible for culture whether your activity can be authorised and what local conditions apply.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
