Metal Detecting in Brazil
In Brazil, archaeological research requires authorisation from IPHAN, the national heritage authority. Its guidance includes archaeological surveys as well as excavation, so searching for historical remains should not be treated as an ordinary beach hobby. I could not verify a single national rule settling every recreational detector search for modern lost items. Before heading out, check the exact beach, park or property with its manager and confirm whether heritage or environmental restrictions apply. Land access alone does not authorise archaeological research.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
