Metal Detecting in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina requires a careful local check because archaeological work is regulated through entity and cantonal legislation. The Commission to Preserve National Monuments warns that archaeological excavation and collecting finds without the necessary approval and professional supervision are illegal, including activities involving metal detectors. I could not confirm a general permission for searches limited to modern lost items. There is also a serious safety concern: landmines and unexploded ammunition remain in parts of the countryside, so an apparently empty field or woodland is not necessarily safe.
Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
