Metal Detecting in Belgium

Belgium needs a regional check because the same rules do not apply everywhere. In Flanders, detecting for archaeological objects requires recognition as a detectorist, permission to access the land and compliance with the reporting and fieldwork rules. Foreign detectorists can also apply. Wallonia has its own authorisation system, including an information session, annual renewal and notification duties. Neither permission should be assumed to cover Brussels, where you need separate confirmation. Always establish which region your search falls in before making plans.
