Metal Detecting in Bahrain

Bahrain’s antiquities law reserves archaeological exploration for the responsible authority and specially licensed scientific bodies or archaeological missions. Its definition includes searching for antiquities on the surface as well as underground or underwater, so avoiding digging does not automatically remove the need for authorisation. I could not verify a general hobby permit or a clear nationwide rule for searching only for modern lost items. Landowner permission alone does not authorise archaeological searching.

Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
