Metal Detecting in the Bahamas

In the Bahamas, searching or excavating for antiquities requires a licence under the Antiquities, Monuments and Museum Act. This is a research framework with requirements for scientific experience and the proper study and preservation of discoveries. It is not a general tourist detecting permit. The law does not settle every search for modern lost jewellery on a beach, so I would check the exact beach with its manager and the relevant authorities. Any discovery that may be an antiquity must be reported promptly.

Detector Lady recommends: Before travelling with your metal detector, always check the country’s current rules and the conditions for the exact place you want to search.
