Metal Detecting in Azerbaijan

I could not verify a general national rule clearly allowing or banning ordinary hobby metal detecting in Azerbaijan. The published Culture Law does require authorisation for archaeological excavations and scientific research involving archaeological cultural property. That is not the same as permission to search for historical objects as a visitor. Before taking your detector into the field, ask the heritage authorities about your planned activity and obtain the necessary land access permission.
